Amy Goodman is an American investigative reporter, broadcast journalist, and author. Her investigative journalism career includes coverage of the East Timor Independence movement, Chevron Corporation’s role in Nigeria, and the 2016 protests against the Dakota Access pipeline. For all these stories, Goodman put herself in great personal danger in order to report these important accounts and bring international awareness to these situations. She has received numerous awards celebrating the quality of her work- and in 2012, Goodman received the Gandhi Peace Award for a “significant contribution to the promotion of an enduring international peace.” Through her courageous coverage of events regardless of personal consequences, Goodman inspires her audience to bring awareness to injustice and to fight for a more peaceful world.
