In the autumn of 2022, I unexpectedly embarked on a journey of crafting analog collages. Amidst the turbulence of the ongoing Russian full-scale war in Ukraine, collage-making became a unique form of therapy that liberates my mind while engrossing my hands. It provides solace from the overwhelming emotions, stress, and anxiety, transforming the personal turmoil into expressions of absurdity that makes my inner storm quieter. It has been teaching me how to be kinder to myself in the beauty and the blemishes, the uncertainty and continuousness, the triumphs, and the trials. It has become my new way of healing, self-discovery, self-expression, and play.

My inner state, experiences, stories, and the world around me inspire my creations. Being Ukrainian, the haunting echoes of war have been leaving an indelible mark on me, and I find myself drawn to express the complexities of this experience through my art. While my collages may sometimes appear somewhat dark and eerie, they serve as a raw reflection of the pain and anguish endured during those times. However, amidst the somber tones, I find solace in infusing a glimmer of hope, a ray of light that speaks of the human capacity for regeneration, healing and renewal.

Embracing the metaphorical essence of collages, I am fascinated by the way each observer finds their own narrative, delving into personal layers illuminated on so many levels. Through my art I endeavor to create a source of reflection and discovery for the viewers, inviting them to own interpretations and contemplating themselves, their lives, experiences, the beauty, and the absurdity of the kaleidoscopic world that surrounds them.

Taber Calderon was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in 1976. He is a graphic artist who lives and works in New York City. His work has been recognized by international design and poster exhibitions.

From the south of the Dominican Republic to the south south Bronx. I was heavily influenced by traditional family values and first world country culture shock... poverty, the crack epidemic, crime and the grime. Luckily my grandfather and uncles worked at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It was the best going to work with dad(s) days. On the train I found (or it found me) my biggest influences - the School of Visual Arts posters and the all mighty Benetton ads. Arts was it!

Lea Pietrzyk is a French Animation Filmmaker and Illustrator, dedicated to the exploration of universal storytelling. After graduating from Gobelins, L'Ecole de l'Image, she has been working in the animation industry for years and is now exploring Illustration as a storytelling medium. In addition to her professional work, she has also been involved in the development of her own animation projects. Some of these projects have been recognized and selected for pitching forums, including the Focus Script of the Cannes Film Festival, When East Meets West Trieste Film Festival and Cartoon Springboard.

Greetings! Sofiia is an artist-painter born in 2003 in Mariupol, Ukraine. With a passion for art cultivated since early childhood, she draws inspiration from cartoons, video games, and anime. In 2021, Sofiia enrolled at the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts, specializing in painting.

Following the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, Sofiia relocated to Poland a month later, participating in the Erasmus+ student exchange program at the University of Jan Kokhanovskyi. During her time there, she not only pursued her studies but also engaged in teaching drawing to children, honing her communication skills and sharing her artistic knowledge.

In 2023, Sofiia achieved recognition as a Finalist in the 7th МАЛЮЙ.UA International Art Festival. Her works were showcased in an exhibition at the Central Park of Culture and Recreation in Kyiv and featured in the Exhibition Pool. Additionally, she participated in the "Abstract" competition from Art Channel, presenting her work in an online exhibition.

Proficient in oil painting, graphics, linocut, and digital art using a graphics tablet, Sofiia currently resides in Finland. She actively participates in online exhibitions and works as an illustrator, showcasing her artistic talents on an international platform.

 

Brenda Rocío Guerrero Zerón, born on August 26, 1975, in Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico, has actively participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions. Noteworthy among these are "Centenarios del carnaval de Guaymas" (1999 - 2004), "Pasiones afines" (1999), and "Ser a-lado" (2022). Her artistic contributions extend beyond galleries, as she has created murals in various educational and health institutions.

Currently employed at the Sonora State University Press and Institutional Communication Area, Brenda previously served as the coordinator of the communication area at the Municipal Institute of Culture and Art of Guaymas. During the 2015-2018 administration in the City Council of Guaymas, she held the position of Director of Institutional Image. At the Museo de Arte de Sonora, she assumed the role of Head of Educational Programs and exhibition design.

In the realm of education, Brenda has shared her expertise by teaching semiotics and signage in the Graphic Design program at the Technological Institute of Sonora. Additionally, she conducts independent painting workshops, showcasing her dedication to both artistic creation and education.

Pax, from the Latin, Peace. The image refers to the hand sign “V” initially used during WWII as a signal of victory. Later on it was adopted by Anti-war activists as a gesture of “ friend or peace ”

In a world scarred by conflicts, the concept of peace has often been shaped by those in positions of power. This poster seeks to provoke contemplation on the inherent biases ingrained in the narrative of peace, particularly in the context of the ongoing struggles in Ukraine and Gaza.

The stark contrast of white letters against a black backdrop symbolizes the dichotomy that exists within the idea of peace. Historically, peace has been presented as the absence of overt conflict, a tranquility that sometimes conceals the silent struggles of marginalized communities.

Yet, as we confront the harsh realities of the Ukraine war and the plight of the people in Gaza, we are compelled to question whether peace, as traditionally defined, is sufficient. Is it merely the absence of violence for some, while others are left yearning for their voices to be heard?

This poster challenges us to consider whether the pursuit of true peace is, in fact, synonymous with the pursuit of freedom for all. It beckons us to reflect on the responsibility we bear to dismantle oppressive structures and foster a world where every individual, regardless of their background, can experience genuine freedom.

Born and raised in Graz, Austria, Nina Seidel (b. 1990) studied Fine Arts at the University of Granada, Spain, where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2014. From 2015 to 2019 she lived in Cape Verde, working as an arts teacher, artist and designer. Since 2019 Nina is based in Lisbon, Portugal, where she currently works on her project “12”. Nina’s work has been published in “Clover and Bee Magazine”, “Artist Talk Magazine” and “The Purposeful Mayonnaise”, and since 2011 the artist has participated in several collective exhibitions in Spain. In 2014 Nina had the honour of realizing her first solo show, “Naturalezas”, at Museo Casa Natal García Lorca, the birth house (nowadays museum) of the famous Spanish poet Federico García Lorca in Fuente Vaqueros, Spain.

Inspired by Martin Luther King Jr.’s quote, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere” and by the double standards that Western politics and media apply to violence in different parts of the globe, Join the Peace Revolution highlights the importance of peace as the only way forward. Inna Nikolaeva was born in Ukraine and now lives in Vienna, Austria. She graduated from the Dnepropetrovsk Academy of Construction and Architecture with a degree in Architecture. For several years she worked as an architect at a research institute in Dnieper. She specialized in icon painting, decorative arts and interior design. Inna studied the color theory of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and the technique of the Swiss artist Gerhard Wagner.  At 33, she began teaching art history, painting and sculpture. She received a diploma from the International Waldorf Pedagogical Association and conducted seminars for teachers of drawing and modeling. After creating the first series of paintings, she began working with Contemplative artists from Germany, Switzerland, Ukraine and the CIS. Inna participated in the creation of the OST-WEST Society of Artists and organized group exhibitions. Inna organized plein airs and founded the Goethe Art Studio. Her teaching experience is 27 years. She also designed interior spaces and decorated interiors. Having received stage training at the Academy of Eurythmy, she participated in eurythmy performances and explored the relationship between different forms of art. Inna implemented a project with the Ukrainian theater "Potoki” in Dnipro. In 2022, due to the conflict in Ukraine, she had to leave her homeland and move to Austria. This crisis event became a turning point in her life, and had a huge impact on her creative expression. Inna's works are in private collections around the world, including the USA, Greece, Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Ukraine. She exhibited her works in Ukraine (Dnipro, Odessa, Kyiv), Russia (Nizhny Novgorod), Switzerland (Dornach), Austria (Vienna).

Delnara was born in Kyiv, Ukraine. Graduated with a master's degree from Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture.

How the artist works with the polysemy of the concept of "migration", searches for new facets of a multicultural and multiethnic world community. Dynamic perception, the rejection of settled life, migration - in her artistic practice, these are tools for the re-actualization of the "mental map", a way to see more clearly, resetting again and again the automaticity of perception. Nomadism as an instrument of cognition and estrangement, a hormone of fresh perception, transferred to the field of art, allows you to leave room for a miracle, for the manifestation of life itself.

After the start of the war in Ukraine, reflections on painful events appear in her artistic practice. Delnara is a research-based artist who approaches historical and political moments through the lens of the natural world.

Tomaso is graduated from the Art Institute of Trento and started working as a graphic designer in 1985, is Member of AIAP (Italian association planning for visual communication) and member of the BEDA (Bureau of European Designers associations). He started working as a graphic designer in advertising agencies since 1985.

«My job consisted of the classic role of the graphic designer, from the creation of a company logo to the advertising campaign, to video commercials, etc. Parallel to my profession, I carried forward what was my passion that I initially developed by creating satirical cartoons. The first prize I receive at a comic competition in the Municipality of Genoa dates back to 1996. Later I started to create posters especially for charitable associations and to raise awareness on social issues. My first poster awarded for a competition was called “peace negotiations” and dates back to 1999 and is made in pen on paper. The last prize, in order of time, is the bronze medal in the international competition “Ecuador Poster Biennial” in the poster section on the theme “Donald Trump” entitled “The wall” and is entirely made in digital».

Naufan is a design educator and designer.

He is a lecturer at Department of Visual Communication Design (VCD), Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Surabaya, Indonesia. 

For several years, Naufan also works as an independent graphic designer and graphic consultant who focus on graphic design: poster and visual branding; typography, illustration, etc. He has been awarded , invited, and selected in more than 200 international art events and competitions, and no less than 20+ national art and design events. Besides, in Indonesia, his works was exhibited or presented in 45 foreign countries. For Rochallyi, 2022 and 2023 are the years of answering whether vector poetry can provide an extended visual interpretation of the language unavailable through traditional notation and interpretation. The combination of time, space, movement, and direction can expand all aspects of a text and its meaning. His endeavor aims to investigate the semantics/semiotics of vectors in poetry as a response to the problem of creating meaningful patterns. Rochallyi believe that Vectors can be used to create a sense of movement in a poem. For example, words can flow smoothly from one to another, creating a sense of rhythm and movement. It can add another layer of meaning to the poem and make it more interesting to explore. Vector Poetry replaces words or partial phrases with vectors. In vector poetry, words are arranged in a specific way to visually represent the poem's meaning. Just as a vector is defined by its direction and length, each word or sentence is represented by a line that points in a particular direction and has a certain length. Vector poetry is a form of mathematical expressionism in art. It can capture words, emotions, movement, and location. In an essay entitled Classification of Mathematical Poetry in Hyperrhiz Journal, Rochallyi described vector poetry as a method of creating poetry and vectorizing poetry through vector space-VSP. His vector poetry captures states, space, and time to showcase a concise but poetic expression. It achieves an emotional effect by moving a word or phrase across a grid of vector space, creating a visual and especially emotional effect, or by using mathematical equations to create shapes and movements

 

İSMAİL CEM ÖZKAN was born on 25.05.1965 in Ankara. As of May 2000, he became a German citizen as well as a Turkish citizen. He started his primary education in Hacıbektaş, continued his education in Ankara and Dortmund, and completed his vocational training in Cinema and TV in Oberhausen. After graduating from school, he took part in documentary shooting and editing as a project between 1999 and 2005. He returned to Istanbul years later and worked in various fields in Istanbul, from radio programming to preparing interviews and humor pages for newspapers. In addition to his work in the media, he also published the "street culture newspaper" Galata Gazete with his friend. He has worked as a cartoonist and journalist in various newspapers, magazines, radio and television channels since 1984. In the meantime, he opened many exhibitions and received awards for his work. He wrote columns and commentaries on daily events in many online newspapers, and he still writes.

Born in 1977, Rula Jones Brock is an accomplished visual artist whose diverse body of work has been showcased in numerous exhibitions and galleries across the United States and internationally. RJB's artistic journey has been marked by a commitment to exploring various mediums and pushing the boundaries of creativity particularly in the book arts, print and publishing.

RJB's artworks have been featured in a range of exhibitions, both solo and collaborative. Notably, In 2022, Rula received recognition from the National Endowment for the Arts to write and publish an artist monograph. Her commitment to the arts was further acknowledged with the Robert Rauschenberg / Change Inc. award in 2003. She has been a resident artist at esteemed institutions such as The Griffin Art Center in Frederick, MD, from 2019 to 2020, and the Centre Pompadour in Ercourt, France, in 2018. RJB has also curated several noteworthy exhibitions in the Washington DC area and has founded two art galleries, Gallery 115 and Gallery 44 as well as an artist-in-residence program at the Y Art Center in Historic Frederick, Maryland where she currently resides.

RJB has an international background having lived in cities all over the world including, New York, London, Amsterdam, and Washington D.C.

 

Luciano Caggianello born in Siena in 1959, is an artist and designer who began his activity in the 1980s interacting with different professional fields : Advertising, Illustration, Graphics and Design (industrial and car-design), Architecture. At the same time he embarked on a path of artistic research which, after initial and assiduous frequentations at the Academy as well as studies and ateliers of Turin artists, led him to evolve various representative and visual themes, allowing him to also validate an articulated national and international exhibition itinerary, such to make him now a recognized and historicized artist. He is also accompanied, in this path, by the publication of some books (“Intermediario Immateriale” 2003, “Parole altrove” 2014, “Aporia e Metamorfosi dell’Arte” 2019, “Fenomenologia del Quotidiano 2020, “Pubblicità .jPig” 2021) which serve as an aid to reflection and deepening of one's conceptual and philosophical research. In recent years, his recognition has essentially become a work of prevalent perceptual and conceptual synthesis that re-elaborates all the didactic, cultural and intellectual interactions also coming from his various training fields (from Applied Industrial Physics, to Architecture, to the Visual). Furthermore, this approach, by identifying the artistic objective of a thematic-conceptual planning and an experimentation inserted between concrete "poverty" and digital art, turns out to be much more related and relevant to concepts of presentation than of representation. He lives and works in Turin, Italy.

Cat Willett is an award-winning illustrator and the author of the graphic biography The Queen of Wands: The Story of Pamela Colman Smith: The Artist Behind the Rider-Waite Tarot Deck (Running Press, September 2022) and the forthcoming book Women of Tarot (Running Press, June 2024). She is also the illustrator of two forthcoming decks and workbooks by influencer Destiny Taylor (Running Press, Spring 2023 and Fall 2024 including Golden Mantras). Since 2019, her work has chronicled the history of tarot, and the understanding female artists who have contributed to the evolution of tarot and art in deck-form. Cat is also a contributing comic artist for The Washington Post, The New York Times, and The LA Times, where she uses her work to speak about gender, mental health, the environment, and current issues. She received her MFA from the Fashion Institute of Technology in Illustration in 2019, and her BFA from the University at Buffalo with a minor in Art History, and also studied at the Scuola Lorenzo de’ Medici in Florence, Italy. Her illustration work has been featured by Apple, Spotify, Brooklyn Public Library, Doc Martens, Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, and NYC Department of Transportation. She is from Buffalo, New York, and resides in Brooklyn, NY, with her family including their companion dog Bowie. Cat’s books are a stunning showcase of her skill in creating dynamic, paneled, graphic-novel-style non-fiction. She is also a contributing illustrator to coloring books for Penguin Random House.

Eskild Beck, born in 1951, is a distinguished contemporary artist hailing from Denmark. His artistic journey gained momentum with his first verified exhibition, "Forårsudstillingen," hosted at Charlottenburg udstillingsbygning in Copenhagen in 2007. Over the last 16 years, Beck has been a prominent figure in the art scene, participating in 12 group shows, various international exhibitions, and art fairs.

One notable exhibition was the "London Art Biennale 2023" at London Art Biennale in London, showcasing his continuous engagement with the global art community. Although primarily exhibited in Denmark, Beck's artistic reach extends to Germany, the United States, and beyond.

Participating in events like Ostrale´014 in Dresden in 2014, as well as shows at Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art and Kunsthal Charlottenborg in Copenhagen, Eskild Beck has left an indelible mark on the contemporary art landscape. Oleksandra Kulikovska, a collage and mixed media artist, was born in Odesa, Ukraine, in 2002. Residing in Dresden, Germany since 2022 due to the war, Oleksandra initially pursued psychology at the university for a year before transitioning to the study of fine arts at HfBK Dresden in 2022.

Exploring the themes of identity, mental health, death, and violence in her interdisciplinary art, Oleksandra believes in confronting complex topics to provide an honest perspective on reality. She asserts that an authentic understanding of reality is essential for effecting positive change in the world.

Oleksandra's primary objective is to pose thought-provoking questions through her artworks, encouraging people to perceive reality and believe in the possibility of positive transformation. Her collage works have been featured in both personal and group exhibitions across various countries, including Germany, Great Britain, Italy, USA, China, Canada, Slovenia, and Ukraine.

CORRUPT VISION:

My practice, and my wider research, act as a call to change perceptions of our current socio-political-technological climate, attempting to create glitchpins* across our social fabric resulting in empathic conversation, and unity. Reappropriation of AI generated images combined with the physical medium of lino cutting and printing has merged the digital with the physical whilst also employing slogans, some of which originally utilised by Situationists, some by Punks, some by Activists and some by yours truly. I ardently do not number, and therefore limit my prints as this process actively drives capitalist forms of scarcity and the fetishism of commodity. Whether artists make one edition, or one hundred, this should not reflect an unrealistic surge in value, either monetary or social. Alongside this I maintain a DIY ethos of a pay-what-you-feel system when displaying works. I am in the firm belief that art should be available to all, and not just to view, but to hold, experience, curate, and exist within home's or social spaces, I must stress that this system extends to paying no monetary amount at all. I believe we can collectively combat the institutionalised norm of artistic exhibitions selling work for gratuitous amounts of money which are far reaching from what average attendees can realistically afford. This immediately excludes them from the chance to participate in the enjoyment of art works outside of their institutions which are trapped behind the pay wall of wealth.  

Collectively we cannot simply accept the systems we live within, we must consume them.
